Notes GFR general:

Nitrofurantoïne wordt geconcentreerd in de urine, waardoor daar bactericide concentraties ontstaan. Bij een creatinineklaring kleiner dan 30 ml/min wordt geen bactericide concentratie in urine bereikt, met als gevolg therapeutisch falen. Daarnaast kan perifere neuropathie optreden door cumulatie in bloed en weefsel. Gebruik dient daarom te worden vermeden bij een creatinineklaring kleiner dan 30 ml/min en/of bij patiënten die dialyse ondergaan.
