Bij de ernst van ziekte inschatting gaat het er vooral om of er klinisch ruimte is om te kijken of de patiënt respondeert binnen 48 uur. De CURB-65 score voorspelt 30-dagen mortaliteit en komt hier dus niet altijd mee overeen.
