General comments
Invasieve ziekte door Haemophilus influenza type B is een meldingsplichtige ziekte groep C: Het laboratorium en de arts melden een geval van invasieve infectie met Hib binnen 1 werkdag aan de GGD.
Chemoprofylaxe van contacten kan geïndiceerd zijn, met als doel voorkoming van ziekte door eliminatie van dragerschap bij contacten van de indexpatiënt. Zie bij profylaxe: Hib profylaxe.
